Capitalism today
Like many nations, the United states has a mixed economy that falls between Capitalism and Socialism. Capitalism can be seen in a paycheck when the government makes the employer take out a percentage for social security. For the minimum wage job understand that the federal government is for the legally enforced pay scale, but without it workers could be payed less. You will also see governmental influence in social welfare and healthcare programs as well as many other aspects of American life. For example the federal government regulates taxes and adjusts interest rates and provide unemployment benefits and more. The government has a role in a very large percentage of America.
Problems With Capitalism
An issue with capitalism is competition between business. In a capitalist society, businesses are constantly trying to best one another by using secret new formulas, or new advancements so that they may gain more costumers, and that means more money for them. In many cases, it would benefit rthe people as a whole for these businesses to work together and create a product better than any one could think of or create, but because they are only searching for personal profit, this would not work in a capitalist society. Competition damages the people because business is only trying to benefit themselves, trying to find the best and cheapest way to create a product that will produce more sales, rather than try to create a product that is more efficient and beneficial to the people.
Capitalism today
Rothkopf argues that during the 20th century the greatest struggle on the world stage was between Capitalism and communism. Capitalism ultimately won but what the 21st century will deal with is what kind of capitalism will win. America's success for over 200 years is due to its balance of public and private ownership. where Government provided Education, institutions, rules and research to empower the private sector to innovate, invest and take the risks that promote growth and jobs.
Problems with Capitalism
One of the problems capitalism lead to was inequality. While the lower classes are working just as hard , in most cases, as the upper classes, the wealth that each earns has a dramatic difference. Because of capitalism, the wealthy are able to get wealthier and maintain their social class, the poor must work incredibly hard to gain wealth and move up classes. Most of the money in a capitalist society is in the upper class, and it leaves very little for lower classes, although they are working similar hours and possibly working equally as hard, but without equal pay.
Capitalism Today in America
Capitalism in America is clearly not working. As of today, the distribution of our nations money is outrageous. Did you know that one percent of the richest American's own 40% of all of America's money (54 trillion dollars to be exact). This is a huge problem in America today. I mean a CEO of a huge company that doesn't work nearly as hard as a lower class employee and probably earns more money in one hour that the average worker does in one month. How is this fair in any way? Sure, some CEO's work very hard to get where they are and I have nothing against that, however the amount of money that they make compared to the lower working class is obscene. If we as a nation are going to be equal and justified, we need to shorten this money gap significantly between the incomes of the lower and upper classes.
anti-capitalist leaders
Kasama is a group of modern anti-capitalists with one goal in mind: start an anti-capitalist mass movement. they have recently been recognized by One Struggle, another large anti-capitalist group that is in Florida. they plan to continue on rebelling through the ideas the 1960's revolts set forth. Revolts like the revolt of Vietnam are what drove this group to where it is today. this is one of the largest revolt groups in new England, and continues to spread today.
Anti capitalist leaders
Pope Francis is a leader known World-wide for the religious standpoint that he presents. He has currently opted to convert every catholic church to anti-capitalism. with this, he hopes to rid of all capitalist societies. While this may be extremely hard to accomplish, he has the support of the entire catholic religion to help. this idea is known as an "apostolic exhortation", and Pope Francis helps to put into action immediately.
